uglychart.com's Most Overrated Movies of the Year
The Constant Gardener is rated as uglychart.com's most overrated movie of the year. Why did critics praise it? I believe it is mostly because of the director - they assume because he made the great movie City of God, that whatever he makes is great. The showy camera movement was very annoying. I also thought that the story wasn't convincing at all.
Crash is uglychart.com's second most overrated movie of the year. The movie was way too overdramatic - but the critics fell for it. It is as if everyone wanted the movie to be as important as they thought it should be. I agree with Brandon Broxey - that it is "a lazy, inaccurate, overdramatic portrayal of a serious issue." It wasn't as bad as the Constant Gardner, but it definitely was not the best movie of the year.

On my flight to SFO I was lucky - they played Pride and Prejudice and Walk the Line - both good movies.
hmm, 'Crash' overated... didn't see it but was inspired to hunt it out after the oscars. i also saw and loved 'Walk The Line' (didn't like the representation of his 1st marriage). 'Capote' was a fantastic movie, strange and intriguing. almost think J Phoenix oughta have won the best actor award over PSH... but both were the best lead performances that i saw in last years theaters.
my #1 overated film of the year clearly was 'Brokeback' Mountain'. 1/2 of the starring pair was great, 1/2 was far less than; heavy handed symbolism & some just plain ridiculous scenes...ie the boss man on horseback with binoculars... the last third of the movie was much more touching and quality than what led to it. the irony of my outspoken displeasure with BbkMtn is not lost on me; a gay guy witnessed me break my back... 10weeks from now all my penance will be paid... hopefully
Yeah I agree. I was a captive audience on a flight and I couldn't stand the movie after 10 minutes. I fast forwarded it for a while and still found it boring so I gave up. I did like the book btw so the movie was a disappointment.
