Kurzweil's Singularity reviewed in FT
James Harkin, in an article in the Financial Times, wrote a slightly negative review of Ray Kurzweil's The Singularity is Near. He thought the book was "singularly unhelpful."
The trend of the growth of information technology is exponential. Regardless of what you think of the Singularity, it is wise to trade with the trend.

I have read Ray's previous book, "The Age of Spiritual Machines" and most of the material on his kurzweilai.net website as of 2004 when he stopped updating it so frequently. For a long time it seemed like Kurzweil was repeating the same message with little variation, but after checking just now, I can see that he is back to aggressively updating the articles on his website again. I'll have to go through and read them all :D I look forward to reading his newest book, thanks for the link.
One thing that I like so much about Kurzweil is that he promotes teamwork amongst scientists and disciplines, which is very apparent by the large quantity of guest articles that he has on his site. Usually collaboration is the missing ingredient for technological advancement, so it's nice to see an open forum for these scientists to express themselves and address each other's work.

Still reading. The number of weblogs being created each day is exponential. People on the Big Blue Marble are now able to communicate with countless individuals in a way that wasn't possible even a few years ago. And that is a trend.
