The blogosphere doubles every 5.5 months
From Dave Sifry's State of the Blogosphere:
Technorati currently tracks 27.2 million weblogs, and the blogosphere we track continues to double about every 5.5 months, as the chart shows:

The blogosphere is over 60 times bigger than it was only 3 years ago.
We currently track over 75,000 new weblogs created every day, which means that on average, a new weblog is created every second of every day.
Technorati tracks about 1.2 Million new blog posts each day, about 50,000 per hour.

The desire to communicate appears to be a deep-seated need of the human species. Maybe this transcends all of life itself. Scientists study communication among all of the flora and fauna on the Big Blue Marble.
One aspect of the major world religions is to incorporate new thought into their doctrines.
Some, but not all, Christian viewpoints, for example, decry the current advances in biological medicine that indeed do portend life extension beyond the current norm as well as providing the means to make extended human life a healthy one.
To the view of some, this is a "dangerous idea."
To me, it is a matter of one group saying to another group, "you're smart about some things, but totally dumb about other things."
Which is another of saying, "if you thought as we do, you'd..."
In my view, it is well-nigh impossible for a small percent of proselytizers, espousing a narrow-minded belief system, to control the minds of more than 6 billion human inhabitants on the Big Blue Marble.
