This is the first I've heard of it, but it looks like production is "gearing up" for Yoji Yamada's third samurai film Bushi no Ichibun (translates loosely as One-Line Samurai). imdb has nothing about it, but it looks like it was briefly mentioned in the recent USA today article about the growing popularity of samurai films. Besides Yamada, there are some recomendations at the bottom of the article that I will have to look into when I have more time: Shinobi and When the Last Sword Is Drawn.
