Peter Pan

Happy Halloween!
I usually get very into Halloween and plan my costume for months in advance, but I've been so busy lately that I was just a mariachi again this year. It was a lot of fun, though, and after a few drinks I found myself speaking in spanish and playing guitar to small crowds at various times throughout the evening.
Have you seen Peter Pan's website? He was on the Conan O'Brien show last year. It is pretty funny - I especially like his fashion page.

Ugly Picks

Good morning, my name is Ugly, and I am a loser. I have it in me to do serious financial damage to my account.

Dear Diary,
Both TWGP and HITT look good - but be careful about earnings.
Two opposing trends are about to collide on the charts - which one will win?

Losing in eight moves

Aaron Scoones wrote a short article about losing in eight moves to Swedish chess grandmaster Tiger Hillarp-Persson. It sounds like he fell for the old queen-sac, bishop mate trick. Tiger gave him some pointers after the game:

"You started alright but your second move of the knight is recognised as a bad move. It's so bad there is not even a name for it."

Good morning, my name is Ugly, and I am a loser. I have it in me to do serious financial damage to my account.

Dear Diary,
I'd be cautious here as the 1200 level resistance at the 200dma was too strong today for the SP500:

Ugly Picks

Good morning, my name is Ugly, and I am a loser. I have it in me to do serious financial damage to my account.

Dear Diary,
There goes REDF. How nice for all of the longs.
WFMI made another new high. I love that store. There are two of them in downtown Philadelphia. But I just went to the privately held Trader Joe's and I think I might like it even more.
Another winner, CRDN, also made a new high - its earnings are this week.
I give TWGP a very high recommendation.
I also give a very high recommendation for ANST.
IRIS is another winner.
Portfolio pick SRLS finally busted a move - I think this is the start of something big.

ABC News on Life Extension

ABC News has an article about extending life. They go into caloric restriction, the Singularity and cryonic suspension. Not much detail, but there is a scary picture of caloric restrictionist Lisa Walford, daughter of Ray, and I didn't know that "Ted Williams, the former Boston Red Sox star, had his head severed from his body and frozen at Alcor Life Extension Foundation."

Sudoku

Have you guys played Sudoku yet? It is an addictive logic-based number puzzle.

"The attraction of the puzzle is that the completion rules are simple, yet the line of reasoning required to reach the completion may be difficult. Sudoku is recommended by some teachers as an exercise in logical reasoning. The level of difficulty of the puzzles can be selected to suit the audience. The puzzles are often available free from published sources and also may be custom-generated using software."

Here is a website that shows you a step by step process to create your own puzzle.

Ugly Picks

Good morning, my name is Ugly, and I am a loser. I have it in me to do serious financial damage to my account.

Dear Diary,
GOOG did it again. It will go up until it doesn't.
URBN also made another high.
Although it is far from certain, watching winning stocks like these make new highs gives me faith that the market will continue up from here.
PRSC looks nice, too.
