California Stars
Woody Guthrie is my favorite songwriter. I feel like I can really relate to and understand a lot of the feelings he is trying to express. He was a man and I believe that his songs can only be really appreciated by other men. Unlike women, it is harder for most men to open up and talk about things with people. Listening to Woody Guthrie's songs kind of gives you the understanding and support you would get by talking to someone - without actually doing it.
I have read a lot about Woody Guthrie and know a lot about his life and it helps me to understand his songs even more.
This might not be the best example, but it is one I was listening to just now (music by Wilco):
I'd like to rest my heavy head tonight
On a bed of California stars
I'd like to lay my weary bones tonight
On a bed of California stars
I'd love to feel your hand touching mine
And tell me why I must keep working on
Yes, I'd give my life to lay my head tonight
On a bed of California stars
I'd like to dream my troubles all away
On a bed of California stars
Jump up from my starbed and make another day
Underneath my California stars
They hang like grapes on vines that shine
And warm the lovers glass like friendly wine
So, I'd give this world
just to dream a dream with you
On our bed of California stars

I think they can be appreciated by non-men, but only REALLY appreciated by other men.
