I have recently switched to organic green tea because of my concern that the spinning and cross-eyedness I get after downing a warm jar is not an effect of the caffeine, but of pesticides. Organic foods are more healthy than conventionally grown foods because they contain no pesticides. Pesticides can cause cancer. Also, organic food is good for the environment because production is carried out using sustainable farming practices, specifically not allowing deforestation to occur as part of plantation farming techniques.
However, organic foods are often more expensive. That is why it is a good idea to carry a wallet guide around with you so you know which foods are important to buy organic. Here is a complete list of the details for many types of produce. I have also heard it is important to buy organic rice as opposed to conventionally grown rice.
Choice magazine says that there were traces of pesticide in 40% of the brands of tea they tested.
The results found only one pesticide in seven of the eight black teas but multiple pesticides in the green teas and some herbal infusions, which suggests black tea probably won't contribute much to your overall pesticide intake, but you may need to be more discerning when choosing a green tea or herbal infusion... Happily, all the teas that claim to be organic got the all-clear.
