ATS +5.55R, short Terra Industries Inc. (TRA)

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008
+5.55R
+$900.35

Despite the Nasdaq finishing up over 1% today, the ATS made $900 shorting stocks into the close, and was actually stopped out of a couple longs. It made 6 trades (tried to make one more, but there weren’t enough shares to borrow) with 3 wins and 3 losses. Here is a short trade it made today on TRA:
shorting TRA
I looked through all the trades today and I was impressed - it is a pretty good technical trader. It is picking some nice spots to enter trades.

Glaxo Buys Sirtris, SIRT +10.02 (+81.93%)

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Congratulations to any long-term resveratrol-eating holders of SIRT stock, which I’ve mentioned many times before, as your portfolio should be up nicely today with a buyout and almost doubling in stock price.
SIRT buyout
I had some stock for a moment in December, but was stopped out. From a technical perspective, things didn’t look great when it made a new all-time low in March. But things look pretty good today, with a last and final all-time high.

ATS: -0.24R, DryShips, Inc. (DRYS) saves the day

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008
-0.24R
+$22.81

The automated trading system made 5 trades today, 4 of them were stopped out for a full 1R loss. Good thing DRYS made 4R (~$600 = 4 times the risk on the trade). I’ve noticed that some stocks on the list are a lot more “noisy” than others - and they often represent our losing trades. I’m going to look over the stats to see if this hunch is true, and if so I will remove stocks like POT (one of the ones we were stopped out of today, and yesterday) from the list.
I just checked this and the ATS has lost 5.26R on POT so far this month, so I’m removing it from the list. CROX has been the best to us so far in April with +5.87R.
