It would have made my watchlist because it is a <a href="http://www2.barchart.com/sectors.asp?sec=top~100~stocks.sec&level=2&title=Top+100+Stocks" rel="nofollow">high alpha stock</a> that opened with a sharp move down on heavier volume.

tom: there are different ways to do it. But a lot of people who trade this style look for stocks that are gapping up or down with heavy volume. I personally looked at momo stocks for gappers and heavy volume. you have to find what is comfortable for you - the key is to recognize trend and high risk-to-reward trades.

i guess my question is what is the process to find these intra-day? start with a predefined list from the night before (e.g. nasdaq 100) and scroll thru all the charts every 30 min.? is there a more elegant process?

how do you build a good watchlist that can produce these dummy setups?

yes, study these dummy-a-day charts until it becomes second nature. And then trade, keeping your risk under control, until you can do it in real-time.

This is all nice, hindsight is beautiful. Now, how do we find these real-time, that's the question ... any tips?
