mark: yeah - rooibos is probably good for you, but that's the thing - there are no studies on humans. There are studies on humans that show the benefits of green tea - plus I enjoy the caffeine. I'd like to learn more about Kombucha. Can't you just eat yogurt or sauerkraut and get the same bacteria?

ugly after having time to dig deeper & research rooibos & green tea differences i came up with one finding where rooibos may outweigh green tea in health benefits regarding cancer cells....it has to do with suppressing aberrant cells in the presence of s9. In fact, when the cells were exposed to B(a)P and S9 simultaneously with rooibos tea, the highest concentration of rooibos tea (1000 microgram/ml) completely inhibited the aberrant cells, bringing their percentage down to the level of the controls that were not exposed to any mutagen. Also, rooibos tea suppressed aberrant cells caused by MMC both with and without the presence of S9, but green tea showed no suppression without S9. of course this study was only done on live animals and animal cells.
here's the link

as far as kombucha, it is full of beneficial yeasts and bacteria which aid the stomach, spleen, intestines, gall bladder and pancreas. it actually adjusts the ph of your body. According to scientist and author Robert Barefoot, Heart Disease, Diabetes, Arthritis, Cancer and 200 degenerative diseases have been linked to acidic body fluids. more info here...
http://www.happyherbalist.com/kombucha.htm
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Kombucha tea was referred to as the Tea of Immortality and the elixir of life. (Tsing Dynasty, China 250 BC) .
also the fda says its safe...i guess that makes me feel....uhmm safe?

mark: yes I've tried Kombucha - but don't know much about it. I used to drink a lot of Rooibos tea, but I'm a heavy sencha green tea drinker because studies have shown many health benefits in humans (I haven't seen any human studies with red tea)
