Spelling arbitrage on eBay
On June 21, 2007 eBay user collectordan was able to take advantage of a spelling mistake on a listing for a full bottle of Allsopp’s Arctic Ale. He purchased it for about $300. On August 12, 2007 he was able to sell this same item (spelling it correctly) for $503,300 - a profit of $502,996!
This is an amazing risk/reward payoff.
Perhaps it would be more valuable to build an ATS that trades items on eBay. One strategy would be to try this type of spelling arbitrage.
