More thoughts on Wallstrip

With currently 34 35 36 comments, the Thoughts on Wallstrip post is the most comments I’ve had on one post in the last three years. Well, people at least have an opinion on Wallstrip. I didn’t notice that New York Magazine wrote a harsh review of the show, until reading Loren’s blog today.
I think Loren is anti-Howard. It’s understandable - they both have strong personalities, which clash. I kind of like Loren’s no-bullshit style and I’ve started watching his videos daily.

The Times says someone has been foolish enough to invest $500,000 in this folly. Our advice to that investor: Make sure to get your picture taken with Campbell before she appears on The Sopranos. That photo will be about the only thing of value you’ll get from your half-mil. And it’ll make a lovely memento of what is clearly the new Internet bubble.

Maybe they were a little too harsh. I mean Fred Wilson is bullish on wallstrip - and I wouldn’t want to bet against him. But here is his disclosure:

“Full Disclosure- Howard has offered me a small stake in the show for helping him out with it so I have an interest in its success.”

Fred seems like an honest guy, but being financially involved could make him biased and it does seem that he’s often posting about the show and how great he thinks it is. I wish I knew what he really thought, because I think he’s a smart guy. Maybe that is how he really feels. Obviously a lot of people do.

Update: to be fair, here are two positive articles about wallstrip in the New York Times and Businessweek.

Update 2: Comments got out of hand, so I removed them from this post.
