Winter Vegetables
The mustard family of vegetables (also known as Cruciferae, Cole Crops and Brassicaceae) includes broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale and Brussels sprouts.
“These vegetables contain high levels of glucosinolates, which when eaten break down to release isothiocyanates. Evidence shows that these isothiocyanates, which include sulforaphane, are among the most powerful anti-cancer agents in the diet.”
I like to think of it like this: Vegetables are very healthy. Leafy greens are even more healthy. And the Brassicaceae are the most healthy of all. But it is best to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables.
