Ugly Picks
Good morning, my name is Ugly, and I am a loser. I have it in me to do serious financial damage to my account.
Dear Diary,
I emailed Mark Cook about his sell signal, which I mentioned before. He said it was quoted from one of his advisories, which he sends out twice daily to day and position traders. He said that, as of this past Tuesday, he had the most bearish signal of his entire 28-year trading career.
Mark is also from Ohio, the heart of it all.
MRK is a dog of a stock. If it ever goes up, I don’t think it will be for long.
ADSK, on the other hand, is not and closed Friday at an all-time high.
You can’t deny the strength of recent IPO RAIL.
ASEI looks strong.

My flight to Minneapolis was cancelled Friday night because of the NWA strike, so I turned the car around and drove up to NYC to see the premiere of the Summer Samurai series at the Film Forum. Samurai Rebellion was worth the drive, with my favorite actor Toshiro Mifune doing a great job as Isaburo Sasahara, an aging samurai. I think Kurosawa could have shot it better, but Kobayashi did a fine job. One thing that bothered me was that the audience would laugh at parts of the film that were not supposed to be funny. I guess these people had not seen many samurai movies before and so they were not used to, for example, some of the exaggerated facial expressions. But these were times when the movie was trying to communicate a mood - and it wasn’t humor. It was annoying, as I was trying to understand the mood but was constantly being distracted by the audience laughing. At some points I felt like saying really loud, over their laughing, “this is not supposed to be funny.” I also felt like laughing really loud when the audience was serious and contemplative.
